While I think most people want to be relaxing at home during the first day of the year I couldn’t have asked for a better way to kick off 2017 than photographing this beautiful wedding at Top of the Town restaurant in Cullman, AL. The sparkling, blush-colored details were perfect for a New Year’s Day wedding. Loren’s dress from Diane’s Formal Affair was out of a fairytale – a voluminous, flower-inspired tulle skirt with an elaborately beaded bodice. She uniquely matched it with satin Steve Madden sneakers to highlight some of her tomboy style.
The decorations were brought together by Designs by Grace. She is truly an expert at crafting an incredible wedding day experience. I’m not sure if she found the sparkling pink tablecloths just for this wedding, but it seemed like they were handpicked to go with Loren’s dress. The beaded table centerpieces made the venue feel larger-than-life. The flowers by Cymbidium Studios were the finishing touch and they smelled as beautiful as they looked. Lastly we can’t forget about the food! The food at Top of the Town was one of my favorite ever wedding day meals. I wish I could have slowed down to savor it but on wedding day we scarf down our meal very fast so we miss as few moments as possible!
Although the Top of the Town is one of my favorite venues, it comes with many photography challenges. Most of the rooms are dimly lit and very tight, and on top of that we were rained in. An important question to ask your wedding photographer is if they know how to handle difficult spaces that are dark and small. I love the challenges that any wedding throws at me, and I think this set of images were a hit!
