“Despite growing up on opposite ends of the continent, Michaela and Gunnar’s paths crossed while pursuing their degrees and athletic ambitions in NCAA football and volleyball at Samford University. During their sophomore year at the year-end athletic banquet, Gunnar struck up a lively conversation with Michaela when he learned about their shared love for cats. The weeks following were filled with the exchange of numerous “snapcats”—texts with funny cat photos and memes, since neither of them owned a phone capable of the newly-popular Snapchat app. As their conversations developed into a more meaningful journey about life, love and the Lord, so also began local explorations and star-gazing trips across Birmingham. Their love for each other grew quickly and has taken them on many adventures since across the globe, including when Gunnar proposed to Michaela while watching the “most beautiful sunset” last summer in Canada.” – Michaela
Michaela and Gunnar’s wedding is proof that winter weddings are not any less beautiful than a sunny Spring or Summer one. I am swooning over all these gorgeous images! We started the day with Dragonfly Salon and Boutique in Birmingham. The staff was so friendly and did an amazing job with the ladies’ hair and makeup. We finished getting ready at the historic Tutwiler hotel which is the dreamiest backdrop for wedding details and portraits. I love all the old brick and white stone details on the patio and the window light that poured into the room was so lovely. We chased the sunset for more portraits of the beautiful couple at Railroad Park. The ceremony and reception were held at B&A Warehouse, who pulled off a great event as always. Special thanks to the talented Mary Katherine Morris Photography for photographing alongside me!
